Element extensions

All elements have a basic bounding box geometry with dimensions for the length, width, and height.

The bounding box geometry can then be trimmed and/or extended in various ways by adding element parts such as recesses, endcaps corbels, thickenings, fillings, and linear cast-in materials, and some elements also have protruding parts such as reinforcement or cast-in material items.

Now it’s possible to store an element’s extension from the basic bounding box geometry by adding extensions for each side of the bounding box. By setting the new variable “AUTOUPDATEELEMENTEXTENTS” to 1 (default 0), the application automatically keeps track of extensions made by all parts of the element except reinforcement, however, it’s possible to override each extension by locking it to a user-defined value.

The total dimensions of the element can be shown by adding the new attributes “TOTAL_LENGTH", "TOTAL_WIDTH", "TOTAL_HEIGHT" and by switching on an element type specific project setting you can also get the total dimensions in the element’s main view. Note this has not yet been implemented for Hollow Cores, Form Slabs and Double Walls.
