Other Endcaps - Advanced Wall Geometry

Last modified by Thomas Gitsas on 2018/06/11 14:00

Instead of predefining endcaps and save them in your database, there is the oppportunity to design your own, according to the wall spacifications that your company uses. In this section, all the commands will be explained and an easy example will be illustrated as a gif.

Overview

Fig. 1 depicts the Endcaps tab in the wall properties.

Figure 1: Overview of Endcaps tab in the wall properties

There are 4 options on the Side window, which mean:

T: Top

B: Bottom

L: Left

R: Right

According to your choice T and B will give "From" L to R and L and R will give "From" T and B. In Fig. 1 we have selected the left side so the geometry will change from Top or Bottom.

There is of course the possibility to set your endcap and mirror it to both sides, but in this specific case we look only into geometry endcaps.

A and B controlls the length of the endcap, while C and D the depth.

IMPORTANT: When making an other endcap, you should remember that substracting concrete from the wall, should happen as a continuous process (as in the next example). It is important to seperate the wall on endcap pieces on the x-axis and the y-axis seperately in order the function to work properly. In the next example, we modified the wall geometry by creating 3 endcap pieces on the x- axis (2 on top and 1 on the bottom).

Example

In the example, we will change the geometry of a solid wall by using other endcaps.

Let's draw a solid wall with length of 4500 mm, height of 2600 mm and thickness of 200 mm as shown in the next gif.

Now let's change the geometry by using the endcaps tab.

In Figure 2, we can see the modification of the 2 walls using other endcaps.

The values used in this specific modification are shown in Fig. 3
