Define an Opening

(Note: This command is only valid for walls)

Start with launching the Openings command.

Choose what element type the opening should be dedicated for, and create a new opening on any level.

  • Type - what type of opening: door or window. 
  • Width
  • Height
  • Radius at top edge
  • Endcaps - one can define endcaps for the different edges in an opening 
  • Production code - information regarding IMPACT Cost Estimation
  • Cast in material - one can add CIM to the definition
  • Frieze - frame around an opening

In the definition for openings, the user can choose to add reinforcement groups in the edges. These are used to strengthen the wall when big openings are added.

  1. Group - before setting this up, one needs to define a reinforcement group. This definition will then be used in the opening definition. 
  2. Anchorage start/end - this will be set up if the reinforcement group should be a bit wider then the opening
  3. Offset - distance from edge to insertion point of the reinforcement group
  4. Filling material - one can use a different material around the reinforcement group
  5. Filling offset - distance from reinforcement group until the boundary where the filling material should stop
  6. Text filling - this setting enables the text for the filling material to be presented on the drawing
  7. The orientation of the reinforcement group
  8. The user can add different reinforcement groups for different edges 

Draw Opening

Start with launching the  Draw Opening command.

  1. Type - what type of wall
  2. Opening - the definition that one wants to use
  3. Thickness - the thickness of the wall for which this opening is going to be used
  4. Window/Door text - this setting enables the name of the opening to be presented on the drawing
  5. Frieze - which frieze should be used
  6. Side - which side should it be placed 
  7. Base elevation - insertion level
  8. Base to the head of the opening
