How to upgrade IMPACT to a new Revit version?

Last modified by Linus Karlsson on 2022/03/25 13:22

This article is relevant for companies that already have started with IMPACT for Revit and want to upgrade to a newer version of Revit. If you have not used IMPACT for Revit before, please contact your usual contact person at Strusoft or look at this page for contact information.

To be able to start working with a newer Revit version there are two actions that need to be taken.

Upgrade the files to the new Revit version

There are a lot of different files in the company standard. The first step is to make sure that the files are available for the relevant Revit version.

Open the file explorer and navigate to the company standard. Start with the Common level. In the folders listed below, there are subfolders named 'Revit_YYYY'. These needs to be copied and the name needs to be changed to the new Revit version. E.g. if the company is using Revit 2021 today, and wants to upgrade to Revit 2022 one needs to take a copy of the Revit_2021 folder and name it Revit 2022. It could be a good idea to go through the content of the new folders and clean out files that may not be relevant anymore.

Folders to upgrade:

  • cast_in_materials
  • definitions
  • endcaps
  • template_drawings

Every quarterly release may also include new files to the standard. To access these files, click on this link

Upgrade the IMPACT for Revit plugin

When the first step is done, all users can install IMPACT for Revit for the specific Revit version. It works to have more than one version installed at the same time.

The last thing to do is change the configuration in Server Connect so that IMPACT knows which Revit version to open.
