Save recess from external models
Recess drawn by Revit family
Necessary parameters
Any void Revit families, which cut material out of the host can be saved as a recess in the IMPACT database.
IMPACT database requires certain parameters in order to save the recess as it appears in the Revit model.
Recess is defined as geometry, which depth can be control by the user. Therefore, geometry parameters must be defined in the family.
IMPORTANT: IMPACT saves the recess information according to parameter values in the family, not according to the geometry in the Revit model.
Rectangular & Polygon recess
Geometry
IMPACT Height / Height - Height of the recess
IMPACT Width / Width - Width of the recess
IMPACT Depth / Depth - Depth of the recess

IMPACT Recess Type
Here is a list of possible values for IMPACT Recess Type parameter:
- Polygon recess
- Rectangular recess

Circular recess
As a Revit user, here are the parameters that are necessary to save correctly circular recess family in the IMPACT database.

Here is a list of possible values for IMPACT Recess Type parameter:
- Circular recess
To review the properties of the parameter, please refer to Figure 2.
Optional parameters
IMPACT Schedule
In order to create a schedule in Revit, there is a need for an IMPACT Schedule parameter to make a filter.
IMPACT Schedule parameter differentiates between recess, opening, strand, etc. families.
Fill IMPACT Schedule parameter with value Opening for recess families.
