Drawing name and Sheet suffix

The Drawing name in the IMPACT standard is a combination of two parameters - Drawing Prefix and the IMPACT Drawing number. In the article below you can read how to make settings for Drawing name for element types that are either definitions or families in the IMPACT database.

Definitions

Element types that are definitions in the IMPACT database are Wall, Slab, Form Slab and Double Wall. The Drawing Prefix for these element types is set in the definition of the element, under Naming tab. Refer to the example below.

If the user do not set a value for Prefix drawing name, IMPACT will automatically take Prefix element mark value instead. In the example below Prefix drawing name is set to ´´30-´´. This means that the Drawing name is 30-05 in the Shop drawing. If the value for Prefix drawing name was empty in the definition, then the Drawing name will be WP05, because IMPACT will take the Prefix element mark value from the definition of the element.

Families

Element types that are families in the IMPACT database are Beams, Columns and Hollow Core. The drawing name of these element types is controlled with the help of family parameters.

There is a parameter, called IMPACT Drawing Prefix, that could be created and filled by the user in the element family. See settings for the parameter in the picture below.

If IMPACT Drawing Prefix parameter does not have a value, then IMPACT will automatically consider another parameter in the family, called IMPACT Mark Prefix. See settings for the parameter in the picture below.

In the example below IMPACT Drawing Prefix parameter is set to ´´30-´´. This means that the Drawing name will be 30-05 in the Shop drawing. If the value for IMPACT Drawing Prefix parameter was empty in the family, then the Drawing name will be B05, because IMPACT will consider the IMPACT Mark Prefix parameter value from the family of the element instead.

Sheet Suffix

It is possible to have more than one sheet in the IMPACT Revit Shop Drawing. In order to make difference between the sheets, the user can use Sheet suffix, which is set in the Shop drawing template settings.

Open the Shop drawing template and go to Shop Drawing Settings.

Once the Shop drawing settings are opened, choose the sheet that the prefix needs to be added to under Selected Drawing Sheet. Then write the prefix in the field called Sheet Suffix. It is also important that the Label Sheet Suffix is set in the Drawing head family. Take a look at the attached pictures below.

Once the Sheet suffix in the Shop drawing template and the label in the drawing head family are set up, then the Sheet suffix will appear in the generated element shop drawing, as shown in the example above.

Drawing name settings are already setup for the user in the shop drawing templates in IMPACT 1100 standard.
