When the drawings are ready, they need to be plotted. This is done in the different grids in Project Manager. Below is a walkthrough of the plot functionality.

In the plot dialog, there are some different settings to change between.

  1. One must decide which template to use. 
  2. Select which layout that should be printed. One can also print all layouts at the same time by selecting "All"

  1. Choose the right plotter that should be used. Here is a guide on how to set up printers and plotters. 
  2. Choose the paper size one wants to use for the plot.
  3. Choose the right unit that should be used. 
  4. Set the orientation of the plotted drawing. Here one can choose to either plot the drawing in "Portrait" or "Landscape".

  1.  In this field, one can select which color table that should be used. A color table got predefined settings that specify color, lineweight, linetype, screening, and so on for each layer so that objects on a specific layer will be plotted correctly. There are standard plot tables that is installed with IMPACT. These are: to be used when plotting in scale IMPACT.ctb and IMPACT_100.ctb. When plotting in half scale or similar use IMPACT_halv.ctb or IMPACT_70.ctb. You can also use your own created plot style tables. Then you just type the name of the table in the dialog like anytable.ctb.
  2. If this box is thickened, the drawing will be centered on the sheet. If one does not want it centered, one can leave this box empty and set offset values for the plot in the two rows below. 
  3. Plotting from layout Extents is to be used.
    When plotting from Model with a drawing sheet inserted use View and the named view called "Drawing Sheet"
  4. Here, one can choose which plot scale that should be used. 
  5. If this box is thickened, the drawing will be saved as a PDF file in the same folder as the dwg is placed in. 
  6. Choose how many copies of the drawing that should be printed. 
  7. If one is plotting five (number 1-5) drawings at the same time, with e.g. 3 number of copies, collate will decide the order of how this will be printed. If the box is thickened, the drawings will be printed as follow: 1,2,3,4,5 1,2,3,4,5 1,2,3,4,5. If the box is not thickened, the print will be as follow: 1,1,1,1,1,2,2,2,2,2,3,3,3,3,3,4,4,4,4,4,5,5,5,5,5.

  10. If one is plotting several drawings (all layouts for the drawing is plotted (point 2 in this article)) at the same time, and the box "plot to file" (point 11 in this article) is thickened, one will end up with merged PDF files. How the files will be merged depends on which of the three alternatives the user chooses:
    1. Merge PDF to Drawing Name: One PDF will be created for each drawing name, and all layouts will be plotted in that PDF file. 
    2. Merge PDF to Element ID: One PDF will be created for each Element ID, and all layouts will be plotted in that PDF file. 
    3. Merge PDF to Single File: All drawings that one chose to plot, including all layouts, will be plotted in one PDF file.
