Plot using layout information

Last modified by Adam Carlson on 2022/01/10 13:02

Instead of using the settings of the plot template in Project Manager is it also possible to use the layout set up from AutoCAD or BricsCAD.

One of the requirements for using this option is that the layout that should be plotted contains the necessary plot information. The second requirement is that the layout should be created/registered in the IMPACT database - This can either be done by creating the layout in the BL file, adding the plot information to the project drawing template, or adding the layout and information in the specific shop drawing. If the layout is added in the BL file should "Reset drawing" be used the first time the drawing gets open to register the layout into the IMPACT Database.

The examples below are made in AutoCAD but it's also possible to do in BricsCAD.

Adding the layout in the BL file

This example will take a reference in a Plan drawing.

1) Open the BL file and add a new Layout.

2) Modifying the layout setup is done under the Page Setup Manager.

3) The setup for the layout.

4) After the layout has been added to the BL file should the layout also be added to the drawing template.

5) The name in "Drawing Layout" should be the same name as the name of the layout in the BL file. The "Drawing Name" (The name that will be placed in the drawing head) can either be a macro:

"$Drawing" (Takes the name of the drawing)

"$Layout" (Takes the name of the Layout - In this example "Plot")

or a custom name.

6) After the layout has been added in the BL file and Drawing temple will both things be applied when creating a new drawing but the Layout in the BL file and Drawing template does not have a connection yet. This connection needs to be created before the layout can be plotted with "Plot using Layout information". To create the connection using "Reset drawing", when used do IMPACT register the layout in the CAD application and allow it to be plotted from Project Manager.

7) Now when the connection has been created is it now possible to plot the layout with "Plot using Layout information".

Start by using the plot command.

8) Use the "Plot using layout information" and select the "Printer/Plotter". The Plotting settings in Project Manager will be grayed out when using the "Plot using layout information".

Adding Plot information to a Shop Drawing or a Drawing Template

This example will take a reference in a Shop Drawing.

1) Open the Shop Drawing or Drawing Template and modify the Layout - Modifying the layout setup is done under the Page Setup Manager.

3) Now when the Layout in the Shop Drawing or Drawing Template has been set up, is it now possible to plot the layout with "Plot using Layout information".

Start by using the plot command.

4) Use the "Plot using layout information" and select the "Printer/Plotter". The Plotting settings in Project Manager will be grayed out when using the "Plot using layout information".
