Crane
Cranes can be inserted and managed in the Project Managers model view. It is possible to configure the load capacity of the crane for different distances. The capacity will be illustrated in the Project Managers model view.
Crane definitions
You manage project specific crane definitions at the crane note in the Project Manager. The following options can be selected by right-clicking under the crane definitions note:
- New
- Rename
- Delete
- Import
- Export
- Copy
- Standard Exchange
- Properites
New crane definition
- Select the new... option in the definitions dialog to begin creating a new definition.
- Enter a name and a description for your crane.
- Add desired capacities by right-clicking in the grey table area and select the new option.
- Add a radius and matching capacity for your crane. Also chose a color to represent the radius when the crane is shown in the drawing.
The crane values for the capacity is absolute for the given radius and the capacity must be decreasing when the radius is increasing. The program will not interpolate between two crane capacity values.
Rename
Rename will open the “Naming dialog box” this will allow the user to change the naming and description of the cane.
Delete
Deletes the selected crane definition
Import
Imports crane definition(s) from a component file (Work the same way as other components imports)
Export
Exports the selected cranes to a component file.
Copy
Copies the selected crane definition – The copy contains the same settings as the selected crane and should be given a new name.
Standard exchange
Standard exchange allows the user to import crane definitions from the common, local or another project. It is also possible to export the project specific crane definitions to common, local or another project without making a component file.
Properties
Opens the capacity dialog box – This allows the user to change the radius, capacity and color for the selected crane.
Crane Icons in the Model View
There is added the following icons to the project manager:
- Add Crane
- Copy Crane
- Delete Crane
- Move Crane
- Edit Crane
- Hide Crane
- Unhide All Cranes
- Load Check
Add crane
- Select the Add crane... option to begin inserting a crane in the model view.
- Chose the type (definition) of crane you want to place on the drawing and name it.
- Pick the insertion point or manually enter the coordinates.
- Pick restricted phases. Phases in which the crane shouldn't be active
- Pick restricted floors. Floors in which the crane shouldn't be active.
The selection can differ between “Crane not active” & “Crane is active” this depends on the project setting “Activate cranes on floors and phases”. This setting can be found in the project properties -> Components -> Crane.
Nb! You can use the same crane definition for multiple locations for instance for a mobile crane. Then maybe you can call the different locations like Mobile Crane 1 Location A, Mobile Crane 1 Location B, and so on.
Copy Crane
Copies the selected crane to a new selection point - The copy contains the same settings (except the insertion point) as the selected crane and should be given a new name.
Delete Crane
Delete the selected crane(s) form the model view.
Move Crane
Moves the selected crane to a new insertion point.
Crane Visibility (Hide crane & Unhide all Cranes)
When a crane is active on a floor and phase then will the crane be isolated if the floor or phase is isolated in the tree note or phase filter.
Its also possible to hide cranes in the model view by using the “Hide crane(s)” function – This function will hide the selected crane(s).
Hided cranes can be unhidden by using the “Unhide All Crane(s)” or selecting the floor or phase again (If the hidden crane is attached to the floor or phase). The function “Unhide All Crane(s)” will unhide all crane(s) in the project and not only the cranes on the isolated floor or Phase.
Load Check
You can check crane capacity against element mass once a crane has been set up in the Model view. This is done using the command “Crane Check”, shown in the image below. New elements, whatever they are drawn or inserted, will also automatically have their mass checked against the available cranes' capacities when doing an “Update” of the element.
After the Crane Check will the “Element Color filter” change to the filter “Crane Check”. If an element is too heavy for the crane it will turn red if it’s within the crane(s) capacity will it be shown as green.
