CIM template

Introduction

CIM template is a tool in IMPACT for Revit which helps the user to save time when inserting Cast in materials into the walls. The CIM template is based on the Wall Endcap and can be applied for Sandwich, Insulated and Solid Walls.

CIM templates

1. Open the CIM templates command from the IMPACT Elements section 

2. A new dialogue window will open with the CIM templates definitions and here the user can choose between the available options: Create, Copy, Edit, Rename and Import/Export CIM templates. In this example, we will create a new CIM template. Press on New and then write the name and the description of the CIM template

3. While in CIM template, Press on New. Now the user must select the Endcap and make the settings for the CIM according to the project requirements. We will use the Sandwich wall and the Lifts as Cast in materials. Press Ok when this step is finished.

4. Depending on the placement of the endcap, select between the four options available: Placing Top, Placing Bottom, Placing Left and Placing Right. In this example, we will place the CIM template on Top of the element.

5. While in Placing Top, make the setup for the Cast in materials distribution according to the precast element project and press OK. User can choose to apply the CIM template settings from Setup 1 or Setup 2.

Apply CIM template

The Apply CIM template command has been updated in the IMPACT16 for Revit. If there are already CIM templates inserted in the element, it is now possible to see which CIM template is already inserted. Moreover, it is now possible to Add or Remove the CIM template from the element.

1. After the CIM template was created, the next step is to apply the CIM template to the element. Start the Apply CIM template command and select the wall. Press on Finish, select the CIM template definition and press OK.

2. The Apply CIM command helps the user to save time if something unexpected went wrong, like using the wrong CIM or if the project suffered any changes. There is no need to delete the CIM manually as the Apply CIM command does it automatically. Start the Apply CIM template command and select the wall and press on Finish. A new dialogue window pops up and here the user can see which template is currently in use.

3. With the new functionality, it is possible to add a new CIM template to the wall or to remove the existing and insert a new one. In this example, we will remove the already inserted CIM template and insert a new one. Press on Add CIM template and select the CIM template definition. Mark the Remove checkbox for the already inserted CIM template and press OK.
