IMPACT has following requirements for saving beams and columns from external models in the IMPACT database: 

Beams

• The element must be have a category Structural Framing  
• The beam element must have two points - start and end point. 
• A length parameter must be created and defined in the beam family. 

Columns

• The element must be have a category Structural Column 
• Only vertical columns can be saved in the IMPACT database. Slanted columns will not be considered.
